RoHS
Directive
Tampa Microwave is
committed to supporting our customers in meeting
their needs for compliance with EU Directive 2002/95/EC
of 27 January 2003 concerning restriction of the
use of certain hazardous substances in electrical
and electronic equipment. Current Tampa Microwave
products fail to meet the RoHS requirements due
to our use of lead based SN62 type solder and
hexavalent chromium plating for aluminum. However,
the articles and amendments to the RoHS directive
state that equipment that falls into the following
categories is exempt from these requirements.
These exemptions apply to products:
1. that are connected with the protection of the
essential interests of the security of the member
states, such as arms, munitions and war material,
and
2. that are intended for specifically military
purposes or national security.
In addition, the Annex to the Directive states
that the use of lead solder / hexavalent chromium
is permitted in network infrastructure equipment
used in switching, signaling, transmission as
well as network management for telecommunications.
All of Tampa Microwaves products currently fall
under these exemptions. When specific requests
for compliance are made, we will examine the degree
of product redesign required to fully comply and
inform our customers of the impact to delivery.
Until then we will continue to monitor the evolution
of lead free solders, metal component plating
and other relevant technologies that support full
compliance with the EC Directive.
